THE REEL

The Shimano ABYSS blue water rods have utilised only the best rod building technology available that has created a dynamic, lightweight yet very strong tamer of the powerful blue water species like kingfish, bass, hapuku, tuna, billfishnand the mighty broadbill swordfish.

The design brief from the top was clear - engineer a series of rods that not only look the business cosmetically from the tip to the butt section but must complete MSL tests of well over specified line ratings at 45 and 60 degrees respectively, also, the Shimano ABYSS range needed to be able to handle the tough rigours of day-to-day charter work - no easy task!

THE ROD

The Shimano Talica is built on solid engineering principles that puts this reel ha league of It's own. This series offers a high-speed retrieve that you can use for jigging up brutal kIngfish from off shore structure where speed can make all the difference or use it to target marlin and tuna trolling lures or pitching out a bait to a fired up pelagic.

The Take is available in both single speed and 2 speed options providing a wider range of applications across the range- from straight out lure fishing to battling deep water species this reel has it covered.

Each model has a one-piece cold forged (for extreme strength) and machined Aluminium frame, this is treated with a proprietary surface process for cutting-edge corrosion protection. Shimano then added a lightweight cold forged aluminium spool, oversized HEG (High Efficiency Gearing) gears, waterproof carbon drag system and 6 S-ARB bearings for super slick operation.

The Take has been constructed to withstand massive drag pressures for their respective sizes and the carbon drag system has been waterproofed (when engaged) to handle salt water spray.
