Team Daiwa makes its debut into heavy-tackle saltwater rods with TD Saltwater. A newly developed series to accommodate the demand for high-quality and affordable saltwater rods.

The heart of TD Saltwater begins with Daiwa’s BRAIDING-X graphite technology, a graphite tape which is applied to the butt section of the blank. Wrapping in this style adds a level of stiffness and rigidity to the overall blank construction without the added weight and diameter of a whole extra layer of the HSD graphite cloth.

BRAIDING-X is used for the bottom half of the blank’s construction, delivering improved lifting power and ultimately higher strength.

TD Saltwater’s actions are tried and tested around the country, featuring jigging and boat-fishing specific models, a number of actions for fishing lures and soft plastics on reefs chasing snapper and pelagic species, and new actions specially designed for the growth in TaiRubber fishing, using lures like Daiwa's KOHGA to chase Snapper and other bottom-dwelling reef species.

Outfitting TD Saltwater is Fuji’s Corrosion Control (BC) ‘O’ ring guides. When it comes to durable and affordable guide solutions, Fuji’s O ring leaves all others behind. Slimline EVA two-tone grips make TD Saltwater stand out from the crowd, and are a class act paired with almost any large size spinning reel.

Daiwa’s newest heavy-duty super reel starts with Daiwa’s legendary Real Four design formula. An amalgamation of Real Engine, Real Control, Real Endurance, Real Custom, and Real Four gives rise to spin excellence that is unrivalled in design, performance and quality.

"After the Line Roller, prevention of water ingress into the gear system via the reel handle is the next revolutionary step to maintain ultra smooth rotation and longevity of the reel. Traditional bearings require packing with grease or oil and metal or rubber seals which can restrain contamination by water and foreign matter. This creates friction and impedes smooth rotation of the reel, while minimal twist in the bearings during rotation, can result in penetration of foreign matter, causing abnormal noise and declined rotational performance. Daiwa has improved the use of traditional CRBB ball bearings by combining them with a fully contained external Magsealed membrane. Water intrusion via the Magsealed Ball Bearings is now a thing of the past, and when they are placed into the gearbox system of the reel, they prevent invasion of water and dust, maintaining the bearings original light, ultra smooth performance. Preventing dust and salt intrusion, greatly reduces reel noise and corrosion and ultimately improves the long-term durability of the reel."

"Especially for our reels with oil barrier (Mag Sealed reels) mechanism we have developed a complete new Air Rotor. So the enormous strains, which affect the rotor via the line and the line roller are better distributed. This causes less pressure on the single parts of the rotor. The new rotor is 15% more light weighted than usual rotors of the same material - this reduces vibrations and enhances the rotational balance thanks to a very low centre of gravity."

BG’s aluminium body and side plate forms a reel body that is precision machined, and highly corrosion resistant, making it the ultimate body for the offshore environment. Rigid, strong and highly durable the unyielding body allows for seamless gear function and prevents twisting when the reel is under load and results in greater cranking force. A highly evolved drive system, Digigear features a high precision cutting technique that achieves perfect gear meshing and ultra smooth performance. Daiwa’s new drag, ATD implements structural changes to the spool metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across the entire length of the main shaft. This additional support of the spool reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even wear of the drag washers and ultimately reduces “pulsing” of the drag when fighting the fish. Combined with new improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag startup inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.
