Each cartridge in this box of 50 fires a 45 grain soft point bullet at a muzzle velocity of 2,665 feet per second. At this high velocity, the exposed lead tip of the projectile quickly expands, or "mushrooms," outward into a high diameter shape that dumps a large amount of energy into the animal instead of passing through as a full metal jacket bullet would.
