The "N" in the name stands for Nickel-Plated Lead. Unlike standard lead, nickel plating makes the pellets harder and smoother. This prevents the shot from deforming under the intense pressure of firing, resulting in tighter, more consistent patterns at long range and deeper penetration through thick fur or feathers.

To manage the recoil of such a heavy load, these shells feature B&P's signature Gordon System case. This unique shock-absorbing base wad compresses upon firing to dampen recoil, protecting both the shooter's shoulder and the shotgun's locking mechanism.
