420HC Steel: This is Buck's standard blade material, chosen for its excellent balance of wear resistance and corrosion resistance. It approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Combined with Buck's exclusive heat-treat process, it creates a very user-friendly blade with superior corrosion resistance, excellent strength, and durability. This steel is also easy to resharpen, ensuring optimal performance with a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
Clip Point Blade: The clip point blade features a crescent tip that makes the blade thinner with a sharper point. This shape provides excellent control for detailed work and precise cutting in tight spaces, making it ideal for various outdoor tasks. It is also well suited for intentional punctures, such as creating new holes in a belt. While the point of the blade is effective for detail work, it is important to note that it is not as strong as the thicker points found on drop point or skinner blade designs.
