Hayabusa Blue Runner Sabiki 3 Hooks #18

Product Description

The Hayabusa Blue Runner Sabiki (Model EX312) in size #18 is a heavy-duty rig designed not just for catching bait, but for targeting larger, aggressive predatory fish.

Unlike standard "bait" sabikis that have 6 small hooks, the Blue Runner series features only 3 hooks on a shorter, much stronger rig. This prevents tangles when multiple large fish hit at once and makes it much easier to handle on the boat.

Rig Specifications (Size #18)

Hook Size: #18 (Japanese Sizing). This is roughly equivalent to a Size 1/0 or 2/0 in standard US/Western sizing.

Main Line: 71 lb (0.71 mm) Monofilament.

Branch Line: 47 lb (0.58 mm) Monofilament.

Hook Type: H.FKS130 Blue (High-carbon steel, chemically sharpened).

Dressings: Flash Blue Hage-Aurora (Real filefish skin with UV-active treatments and aurora thread to mimic shimmering fins).

Design Highlights

UV Tech: The "Flash Blue" skin and UV-glowing stoppers are specifically tuned for clear water and high-sunlight days. Since fish see in the ultraviolet spectrum, this rig "pops" underwater far more than standard tinsel.

3-Hook Configuration: Most "blue runners" (like King Mackerel, Bonito, or Kahawai) are incredibly strong. Having only 3 hooks ensures that if you hook a double or triple, you can actually land them without the rig snapping or turning into a massive knot.

Airdrive Shape: The fly shape is designed with "fine-resistance," meaning it moves naturally even with subtle water currents or light rod twitches.

Best Target Species

While the name says "Blue Runner," this #18 heavy rig is a go-to for:

Pelagics: Bonito, Skipjack Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, and Kingfish/Yellowtail.

Reef Fish: Snapper, Blue Cod, and Trevally.

Large Bait: Jumbo Mackerel or Koheru.

Pro-Tip for Rigging

Because the main line is 71 lb, you should pair this with a heavy sinker (4oz to 8oz) or even a vertical jig at the bottom instead of a standard lead weight. This turns the rig into a "Jigging Sabiki," allowing you to catch predators on the hooks and the jig simultaneously.
