Unlike traditional, aggressive "round ball" expanders that can bind inside the case, Hornady’s exclusive elliptical design is engineered to provide significantly smoother neck sizing. This specialised shape drastically reduces friction as the expander is pulled back up through the brass, virtually eliminating case neck stretch and minimising wear on your valuable brass. Furthermore, the elliptical profile is so smooth that it eliminates the need for a separate expander die when necking-up brass to the next calibre.

Designed specifically for bottleneck rifle cartridges, these expanders thread directly onto the decapping pin retainer on Hornady’s patented Zip Spindle™ assembly. They are precision-machined to be exactly .001" smaller than the corresponding bullet diameter, ensuring the perfect amount of neck tension for consistent bullet seating and optimal downrange accuracy.
