Overview
The Hornady V-MAX projectiles represent the pinnacle of specialised varmint bullets, engineered for exceptional performance in hunting and sporting applications. With a combination of proven materials, innovative design, and a streamlined profile, these projectiles deliver straight-line trajectories, enhanced accuracy, dramatic expansion, and explosive fragmentation across a wide range of distances and velocities.
As an industry-leading varmint bullet, the V-MAX features a polymer tip and a streamlined design, resulting in flat trajectories. The concentricity of the match-grade AMP bullet jacket provides maximum accuracy at all ranges, alongside explosive expansion, even at velocities as low as 1600 fps.
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Polymer Tip | The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-MAX lies in a hollow cavity between the tip's shaft and the bullet body. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities. |
| Higher Ballistic Coefficient | Hornady combines a sharp, pointed polymer tip with a highly aerodynamic profile to achieve a superior ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX profile also provides maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability, crucial for long-range accuracy. |
| Swaged Lead Core | The precise swaging process allows for the exact formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity beneath the tip's stem. This design enables the tip to build energy before impacting the core, leading to dramatic fragmentation of both the core and jacket. |
| Precise Boattail & Flatbase Designs | Utilising the proper base design provides incredible in-flight stability, essential for consistent long-range shooting performance. |
