Product Description
The KeepGuard Solar Panel is designed to significantly extend the battery life of your KeepGuard KG795, KG770, and KG790 trail cameras, reducing the frequency of visits to your camera's location. This solar panel features an internal lithium-ion power core, which is continuously charged by the solar cells when exposed to sunlight.
Once connected, your trail camera will draw power directly from the solar panel's charged lithium battery for as long as possible. The camera will only switch to its internal batteries when the solar panel's charge level is too low, resulting in a considerably longer operational life for your camera's batteries.
The KeepGuard Solar Panel also includes a USB port, allowing the internal power core to be pre-charged before field use. You can connect it to a computer's USB port or a similar available USB power source. While not mandatory before use, pre-charging ensures the solar panel begins providing supplemental power to your camera immediately, without waiting for the solar cells to build an adequate charge.
To use this feature, connect a compatible USB Mini cable (not included) from the solar panel to your power source. The charging indicator LED on the back of the solar panel will glow red during charging and turn green once charging is complete.
A mounting bracket is supplied with the solar panel for easy installation. First, screw the bracket into a tree at a point above your camera where the solar panel will receive unobstructed exposure to the sun for the longest part of the day. Secure the swivel head firmly to the tree bracket, then connect the threaded bolt at the end of the swivel head to the 1/4" x 20 brass mounting socket on the back of the solar panel. Loosen the swivel head knob, adjust the solar panel so the solar cells are aimed towards the sun, and then tighten both locking collars. Finally, attach the supplied cable to both the solar panel and your camera, securing any slack.
