Mustad 2330 Kirby Sprat Hook

The Mustad 2330 Kirby Hook, often referred to locally as the "Sprat Hook", is a classic, long-standing pattern designed primarily for small baitfish applications. It is a general-purpose saltwater hook that has been a staple in tackle boxes for decades, particularly favoured for catching baitfish like piper, sprats, herring, and mackerel, or for light estuary fishing.

The "Kirby" shape is defined by its consistent round bend and a point that is offset (kirbed) to the side. This offset design significantly improves hook-up rates by preventing the hook from sliding flat out of the fish's mouth without catching.

• Kirbed (Offset) Point: The point is bent sideways relative to the shank. This aggressive angle ensures that when a fish takes the bait, the point is exposed and ready to catch flesh immediately, making it highly effective for small, quick-biting species.

• Tinned Finish: The hooks feature a "Duratin" or standard tinned coating. This provides excellent corrosion resistance in saltwater environments, keeping the points sharp and the shank strong even after repeated use in the ocean.
