Carbon Steel Blade: The carbon steel used in Opinel knives is exceptionally hard, ensuring excellent cutting performance, good wear resistance, and ease of regrinding. Please note that carbon steel can corrode easily. We advise avoiding damp environments and recommend wiping and greasing the blade after each use to maintain its quality.
Beech Wood Handle: Beech is the primary wood chosen for Opinel handles. Sourced from France, this beech wood is known for its hardness, durability, and workability. It presents a homogeneous appearance, with a light colour that ranges from yellow to pink, and is distinguished by numerous small, dark dashes.
Virobloc Safety Ring: Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is a key feature on all Opinel folding knives from the N° 06 size upwards. Crafted from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two sections: one fixed and one sliding. This innovative design allows the blade to be securely locked in the open position for safe use, and also locked in the closed position for secure transport.
