Overview
The SCSA Taipan EVO Light Straight Pull Dark Grey .223 Rem rifle is a premier choice for shooters seeking precision and rapid cycling in New Zealand's diverse sporting and hunting environments. This next-generation straight pull rifle, finished in a durable Dark Grey Cerakote, represents the refined evolution of Southern Cross Small Arms' centrefire platform.
Building on the success of previous Taipan models, the EVO incorporates feedback from competitive shooters to deliver a lightweight design with enhanced reloading efficiency. Chambered in .223 Remington, this SCSA rifle features an innovative dual-action mechanism, combining a spring-assisted pump action with a removable, oversized straight-pull charging handle. This versatile design ensures efficient operation for a wide range of shooting disciplines, making it a highly sought-after .223 straight pull rifle for enthusiasts across the country.
- EVO Ergonomic Lower: A significant enhancement for the Taipan EVO is the glass-filled nylon polymer thumbhole grip lower assembly. This design fully integrates an extra magazine carrier within the rear buttstock, ensuring your secondary 10-round magazine is always readily accessible, clipping directly under the cheekpiece for swift reloads during competition or in the field.
- Competition Bolt Catch: Based on extensive shooter feedback, the Taipan EVO features a dedicated, fast-acting bolt catch system. The action locks open on an empty magazine, allowing for instantaneous stripping and chambering of a fresh round with a simple slap of the newly positioned lever, optimising speed when it matters most.
- Flared Magwell & Deflector: The rifle incorporates a wide, funnel-style integrated flared magwell, designed to prevent fumbling during rapid magazine changes and target transitions. It also includes a heavy-duty polymer shell-case deflector, safeguarding the premium Dark Grey Cerakote finish from ejected brass during extended use.
- Mounting Infrastructure: For versatile accessory attachment, the top edge boasts a rigid, continuous full-length Picatinny rail, complemented by an M-LOK skeletonized aluminium handguard. Furthermore, the bottom profile is Swiss plate/Arca-Swiss compatible, enabling seamless tripod and bench bag clamping for enhanced stability and adaptability in various shooting scenarios.
