When installed between the stock pipe and the butt pad plate, it allows the shooter to rotate, cant, and angle the recoil pad on multiple axes. This ensures 100% surface contact with the shoulder pocket, regardless of the shooter's unique anatomy or mounting style, significantly improving recoil distribution and gun stability.
