It is an excellent choice for popular cartridges such as .223/5.56mm, .308 Winchester, and .30-06 Springfield, particularly when using heavier bullet weights.

For target shooting and varminting, consider a N540 powder load of 2.45gm / 37.8gr with the 7.8gm / 120gr OTM Scenar-L bullet in 6.5x47 Lapua calibre.
N540 is also an excellent choice for the .223 Rem when using heavy bullets from 69gr to 82gr / 4.5gm to 5.3gm.
